Cycling UK Gainsborough and Covid-19
Club rides and activities are temporarily suspended.
*UPDATE MONDAY 4TH JANUARY 2021*
National Lockdown in England effective midnight, Monday 4th January 2021
A few changes from Tier 4 that will affect travelling and exercise and how we can cycle over the coming weeks. This post is likely to be updated but here's a summary:
You may leave the home to exercise with your household (or support bubble) or one other person, this should be limited to once per day, and you should not travel outside your local area.
Local meaning avoiding travelling outside of your village, town or the part of a city where you live wherever possible (but you can travel a short distance within your area if necessary - for example, to access an open space).
You cannot leave your home for the purpose of recreation or leisure (e.g. a picnic or a social meeting).
It would appear that there is no limit to the time and distance you can cycle on your once a day exercise and Cycling UK are in full support of non-group cycling.

WHAT IS SPEED JUDGING?
Speed Judging is where riders are directed to a circular route which they will ride anticlockwise (left turns) The riders are told the distance of the circuit and they must estimate how long it will take them to ride a set amount of laps.
All time pieces including computer, watch phone etc are handed in to the time keeper and the riders are individually set off.
After completing their ride the riders times are calculated. The nearest to their estimated time is the winner receiving 6 points. 2nd = 5 points, 3rd = 4 points etc.
These points are added to the riders previous points and at the end of the season the rider with the most points wins
Speed Judging is NOT a race!
All ride distances are approximate.
Do not exceed your limits.
For your enjoyment and that of fellow riders only choose the lengths of rides that you are able to complete in comfort.
Leisure, mountain bike and family rides all start from Roseway in Gainsborough Town Centre unless otherwise stated.
New riders are welcome. You don’t have to be a member of Cycling UK or Aegir to ride, but if you are not and you enjoy our rides, the advantages of the clubs may be pointed out to you. If you would like information talk to Trevor Halstead.
Riders are free to join or leave the group whenever they wish. Please inform the ride leader when doing so.
Riders under the age of 18 must stay with the ride unless accompanied by a parent of guardian.
All ride speeds are approximate. No one is left behind, ride speeds are dictated by the slowest rider.
Short Rides speeds 8 – 12 MPH average, beginners welcome
Mountain bike ride speed 10 MPH average. (Contains off road riding)
Longer road ride speed 12-14 MPH average.
Rides are always led by an experienced rider, dinner stop and refreshment breaks are allowed for as required.
